Details: Sadler Brown were appointed as architects for the re-invigoration of the Tyne and Wear Metro System. The £600m project involved the refurbishment of the existing stations which were built in 1975. Four Lane Ends Station forms a key role in the Tyne and Wear transport network as public transport users can change between Metro services, local bus services and taxis. The work consisted of overall refurbishment to the station and platforms and the replacement of passenger lifts to enhance access to the platforms. The station remained operational throughout the works.
